Volksparkstadion

Description

Located in the Bahrenfeld district in the west of Hamburg, the Volksparkstadion is one of Germany's most significant sports arenas. The UEFA category IV stadium has a capacity of 57,000 for domestic matches and 51,500 for international matches, and is the home stadium of Hamburger SV. Opened on 30 April 1998, the stadium has had several name changes, including the AOL Arena and Imtech Arena, but is best known as the Hamburg Arena in European competition.

The Volksparkstadion was previously part of UEFA's prestigious "five-star" stadiums and hosted the first UEFA Europa League final in 2010. In addition to football matches, the stadium is a venue for significant cultural and public events, including concerts by world stars and sporting competitions, such as the 2011 World Boxing Championships.
