Qualifying for Euro 2024

Organization of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament

1. A series of matches taking place from March 2023 to March 2024.
2. The purpose of the tournament is to select the 24 strongest national teams that will take part in the main stage of Euro 2024.
3. 53 national teams from UEFA took part in the qualifying matches.
4. The teams were divided into 6 pots based on their results in the 2022/2023 Nations League.
5. Additionally, 4 participants in the final stage of the Nations League were combined into a separate basket and distributed into groups of 5 teams.
6. The entire tournament consists of 10 groups: 7 groups of 5 teams and 3 groups of 6 teams.
7. The group stage of qualification began in March 2023 and will end in March 2024.

Criteria for determining the winner

In the event of a tie in a group, the following criteria apply:

1. The highest number of points in matches between these teams.
2. The largest goal difference in matches between these teams.
3. Highest number of goals scored in matches between these teams.

If the teams are still equal, the following criteria apply:

1. Highest goal difference in all group stage matches.
2. Highest number of goals in all group stage matches.
3. Highest number of away goals in all group stage matches.
4. Highest number of wins in all group stage matches.
5. Most away wins in all group stage matches.
6. UEFA Fair Play rating
7. Rank in the overall ranking of the UEFA Nations League 2022/2023.
